Privacy policy

Last updated: November 6, 2026

Splitter is an app for splitting shared expenses within a group. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to delete it.

What we collect

What we don't collect

Photos and the camera

You can give an activity a photo, picked from your photos or taken then. Only the photo you choose reaches the app, and it opens the camera only after you allow it. We keep the photo; only the activity's members see it, and it's deleted when you remove it or the activity is deleted.

We may later let you attach a photo of a receipt to an expense, the same way: seen by the activity's members only, and deleted with the expense.

Ads

The app may show ads. Before adding them we update this policy with the names of our ad partners and the data they use, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites without your permission.

Subscriptions and payments

Some features may be paid. Payment goes through the App Store or Google Play, and we never receive your card details; the store only tells us that you're subscribed.

How we use it

Who sees it

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or on this website's delete-account page.

Your username, email, mobile number, password, sign-ins and notifications are deleted, and your account is unlinked from Apple if you sign in with it. Your display name stays on shared expenses so the other members' balances stay right, and activities you created pass to their first admin, else their longest-standing member.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists; deleting it removes what's listed above. Notifications are deleted after 90 days, and you can delete them sooner in the app. Technical logs are kept only for a short time.

Your rights

You can know what data we hold about you, correct it, ask for a copy of it, and delete it. You can do most of this yourself in the app; for the rest, write to us at info@usesplitter.com and we'll answer within 30 days.

Keeping it safe

Connections to the app are encrypted (HTTPS), and passwords and sign-in tokens are stored hashed, so they can't be recovered even from a leaked database.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.

For any question about your data, write to us at info@usesplitter.com
